Minipogon, season #1, 2020
Documentary video
70’
Edition: 1

The documentary film assembles registered sequences of the Minipogon Collective’s beginnings and early development, from January 2018 to October 2019 – from building machines, collecting and sorting materials, first workshops, to the installation of a workshop in the Krnjača refugee camp. Since the material originates from different sources shot by various activity participants, it represents a heterogeneous collage of recordings of varying quality. The editing work was non-selective and connected the sequences in chronological order.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS:

Minipogon Collective was formed in 2017 with the aim of offering practical solutions for pressing social issues – on the one hand, the social and economic inequality apparent in the “refugee crisis”, and, on the other, the climate disaster caused by capitalist processes of production and the consumer culture as their consequence. Throughout 2018 and 2019, Minipogon’s workstation was located in the Krnjača refugee camp, along with the experimental manufacturing plant for processing of discarded plastics. The plant consisted of machines built by the members of the collective, while the workshop was equipped with all the tools required to work different materials (metal, wood, plastics, etc.). The camp residents participated in the manufacturing of designed products that would fetch high market prices, which in turn enabled fair remuneration for everyone involved in the process of production, along with many other exchanges and social activities. Minipogon is currently working on a similar partnership in the form of extracurricular activities at the Bogdan Šuput High School in Novi Sad, in cooperation with kuda.org.
